What is the FRA Tablet PC Program?

In the 2006-2007 academic year, Franklin Road Academy (FRA) implemented a Tablet PC Program for all students in grades 7 through 12. This program was designed to keep FRA students at the forefront of their peers by participating in an environment that encourages students to work collarboratively with access to computers and the Internet any time and anwhere on campus.

Tablet PCs offer technology that supports the learning style of each student. This newest generation of laptop computers offers pen-based input in addition to the use of a keyboard and mouse. In addition, the screen pivots to become an electronic notepad. It is wireless-equipped so students are able to access the Internet from anywhere on campus. This advanced technology is a comfortable fit for classrooms, and a giant step forward in the learning process.  Students can take notes directly onto a computer screen, and these notes can be edited, searched, stored, emailed, and projected onto a screen for classroom instruction.

FRA teachers have become learning coaches because the use of tablet PCs enables them to adapt curriculums to accommodate individual learning styles.   We have also found that the use of tablet PCs enhances communications between teachers, students and parents.

Please take the time to read the information provided on the Tablet PC Homepage. Parents are encouraged to use email to contact teachers.  If you have a technical or program questions feel free to contract the technology help desk at (615) 369-4627.
