  • Panthers Drop Season Opener

    The varsity baseball team dropped its season opener to Davidson Academy 8-2 on Tuesday. Senior Ponder Thurmond took the loss, pitching three innings and giving up four runs on five hits. At the plate, Thurmond doubled and walked twice, scoring both of the Panthers' runs. Senior Zach Walker had an RBI single. The Panthers look to bounce back Wednesday when they host Davidson Academy on The Hill. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

  • Varsity Boys Basketball Team Finishes Season as State Runner Up

    The varsity boys basketball team finished the 2016-17 season as TSSAA Division II Class A State Runner Up. The Panthers lost to Lausanne by a score of 64-55 in Saturday's final.

    Seniors Brennan Crook and Jack Doherty led the team with 15 points apiece. Doherty also led the Pathers with seven rebounds. Crook, Doherty, and Tyler Roop were named to the All-State Tournament Team.

  • Varsity Boys Basketball Defeats Rossville Christian; Heads to State Tournament

    The boys basketball team defeated Rossville Christian Academy (Memphis, TN) 64-56 in the TSSAA Division II Class A Sub-State game, securing a spot in the State Tournament. Seniors Brennan Crook and Jack Doherty led the team in points with 24 and 20, respecitvely.

    The boys will play St. George's Independent School (Memphis, TN) in the Final Four matchup of the TSSAA Division II Class A tournament. Game time is set for Friday at 2:45 p.m. at Lipscomb University. This is the second straight year the Panthers have advanced to the round of four.

  • Varsity Girls Basketball Falls in Sub-State

    The varsity girls basketball team fell to the University School of Jackson (Jackson, TN) 64-46 in the TSSAA Division II Class A Sub-State game. Junior Jesse Heldman led the Panthers with 16 points, and senior Riley Casey finished with 15.

    This ends the girls' season, one where the Panthers finished 19-11.

  • Varsity Boys Win Regional Tournament; Girls Finish Third

    The varsity boys basketball team defeated USN 61-53 to win the TSSAA Division II Class A East/Middle Region Championship on Saturday. The Panthers were led by seniors Tyler Roop and Jack Doherty, who had 16 and 15 points, respectively. Roop was named to the All-Region Tournament Team, and Doherty was named MVP.

  • Varsity Basketball Teams Advance to Regional Semifinals

    The girls and boys basketball teams won their first-round matchups to advance to the TSSAA Division II Class A Regional Semifinals this weekend. The girls defeated Providence Christian Academy 57-46 on Tuesday. Senior Riley Casey led all scorers with 29 points, and junior Jesse Heldman added 14 in the victory.

    The boys defeated The Kings Academy 62-56 in an overtime thriller on Wednesday.

    Both teams will play against The Webb School of Knoxville in their semifinals games at Battle Ground Academy on Friday. The girls will play at 3 p.m., and the boys will follow at 4:30 p.m.

  • Varsity Basketball Teams Finish Second in District Tournament

    The girls and boys basketball teams finished second in the TSSAA Division II Class A Tournament over the weekend. The girls, who defeated Ezell-Harding Christian School in triple overtime to make it to Saturday's final, fell 47-44 to BGA. Senior Riley Casey led the Panthers with 16 points. Casey and Jesse Heldman were named to the All-District Tournament team.

    The boys defeated Davidson Academy on Friday to play for the district championship. The Panthers fell to BGA 58-50 in the final. Jack Doherty led FRA with 16 points, and Brennan Crook added 15. Doherty and Crook were named to the All-District Tournament team.

    The girls will host Providence Christian Tuesday at 6 p.m., and the boys will host The King's Academy Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the first round of the Regional Tournament.

  • Panthers Defeat Covenant Christian, Webb Bell-Buckle in Final Regular Season Games

    The girls and boys varsity basketball teams are heading into the TSSAA District Tournament on a winning note after sweeping Tuesday's regular season finale. The girls defeated Covenant Christian (Huntsville, AL) 59-15. Riley Casey led the Panthers with 17 points, Zharia Hutchinson added 15, and Ava Ackerman finished with 10.

    The Panthers will play Friday night at 7 p.m. against the winner of USN and Ezell-Harding in the second round of the district tournament.

    On the boys side, the Panthers beat division foe Webb Bell-Buckle 52-43. FRA was led by seniors Jack Doherty and Brennan Crook, who had 20 and 13 points, respectively.

    The Panthers will have a rematch against Webb Bell-Buckle on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of the district tournament.

  • Girls Basketball Teams Defeats USN for Top District Seeding; Boys Fall

    The varsity girls basketball team secured top seeding in the upcoming district tournament by defeating USN 57-53 Friday night. The Panthers were led by Riley Casey, who had 17 points. Jesse Heldman added 14, and Jamie Kendrick finished with 11 in the division showdown.

    In boys action, the Panthers fell to the Tigers 69-55 in a battle for the top seed in the district. Seniors Jack Doherty and Brennan Crook each had 14 points, and CJ Fayne added 11.

  • Four Athletes Sign Letters of Intent to Play at Collegiate Level

    On Wednesday, Franklin Road Academy seniors Jack Doherty, Maeve Kelly, Ryan Madondo, and Sydney Malham signed their letters of intent to play at the collegiate level. Doherty will play football at the University of Richmond, and Kelly, Madondo, and Malham will play soccer at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, East Tennessee State University, and Ohio University, respectively.
