Faculty Fellows Program at FRA
The Faculty Fellows Program is designed to bring dynamic early-career educators to FRA for one-year fellowships. Fellows are typically only one to two years removed from their undergraduate work. All fellows are paired with a mentor teacher with whom they collaborate throughout the year, adding another instructor to the classroom and another mentor for our students.
While at FRA, faculty fellows engage in regular and ongoing professional development led by local university professors. Through these seminars and internal professional development, all fellows build professional portfolios during their time on our campus.
In addition to teaching duties in their mentors’ classroom, fellows are actively involved in our co-curricular programs each season. Many fellows have extensive experience in collegiate athletics, arts, and service life, and they bring expertise, energy, and enthusiasm to FRA playing fields, gyms, theaters, and service programs.
Applications for the Fellows Program are reviewed for all departments in each division.
The application for the 2024-25 school year is officially open, and we are excited to receive your application. We will continue to accept applications throughout the coming weeks and aim to reach out to candidates with information on available positions and potential interview dates by early April. Your submission is eagerly anticipated!

Kristin Adair
Mentor Teacher: Will McCauley
Middle School English & Bible, Volleyball, Performing Arts
Kristen Adair is excited to begin working as a Faculty Fellow teaching Middle School English and Bible. She also looks forward to coaching volleyball in the fall and working with the middle school musical and upper school drama production.
Kristen grew up in Memphis, TN, and graduated from Harding University in 2021 with Education and Bible and Family Ministry degree. For the past two years, she has been serving as a youth minister to teens in Chattanooga, TN, but is now excited to transition into teaching! In her free time, Kristen loves to travel, read, try new coffee shops, and spend time with her dog Winston.
john Harris
Mentor Teacher: Shawn Allen
Upper School History, Football, Basketball, Baseball
John Harris is absolutely ecstatic to be a 2023-2024 Faculty Fellow in the Upper School History Department. John grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina while spending his high school years at Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia. At Woodberry, John played football, basketball, and baseball, sang in the school’s acapella group, and served on the school’s Prefect Board. John went to Rhodes College, playing football and studying history for two years before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. John will graduate from UNC in the spring of 2023, with a degree in History and Classics and is excited to get in the classroom at FRA!
John will be assisting the athletic department with coaching the football, basketball, and baseball programs. In his free time, John enjoys writing and playing music, tossing around the baseball, and watching the Tar Heels!
LANIE Jones
Mentor Teacher: Amy Crace
Middle School History
Lanie Jones is thrilled to serve as a 2023-24 faculty fellow in the middle school history department. She earned her degree in International Studies from Pepperdine University and spent the first year after graduation working in admissions at her alma mater. Lanie grew up in the Kansas City area, where she graduated from Notre Dame de Sion.
In her free time, she enjoys staying active, reading, trying new recipes, and spending time with loved ones. Outside of teaching, Lanie will support middle and upper school tennis, middle school soccer, basketball, and the Office of Admission. She is delighted to join the FRA community.
Jared Mendiola
Mentor Teacher: Corri Calandra
Upper School Chemistry
jared Mendiola is thrilled to join the FRA community as a Faculty Fellow. After pivoting away from his Ph.D. in chemistry at Vanderbilt University, he looks forward to teaching upper school chemistry alongside Corri Calandra. Jared grew up all over the world as a military child, but he claims Highland Park, Illinois home. He attended Highland Park High School before graduating from Colorado College with a degree in biochemistry and minors in education and Spanish. During his undergraduate studies, he was the captain of the baseball team and led multiple youth outreach initiatives focused on mentorship and STEM.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, and watching baseball. He is excited to improve his skills in the classroom and form enriching relationships with his students.
Alumni Note: At this time, FRA alumni will not be eligible to apply for the Faculty Fellows Program. While we welcome the application of alumni for full-time teaching positions, the Fellows Program is designed to include candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
