The Turner Fellowship
Sponsored by the Cal Turner Family Foundation, the Turner Fellowship Program at Franklin Road Academy offers students an opportunity to serve in partnership with not-for-profits organizations within the Nashville community.
Students completing their junior year may apply for the Turner Fellowship Program. The fellowship provides a six week (forty hour week) summer internship with a not-for-profit organization. Each student receives a stipend of $7.00 per hour. A matching contribution is donated to each agency in honor of the Turner Fellow by the Cal Turner Family Foundation.
Throughout the internship, each student is mentored by members of the board of directors of The Cal Turner Family Foundation. Each Turner fellow:
- Keeps a journal during the internship
- Has an exit interview with the agency
- Participates in the preparation of a documentary of his/her fellowship experiences
- Makes a final presentation to the Upper School student body
Turner Fellows may be eligible for a one-time, $5,000 Turner Scholarship to the college of his/her choice. Scholarship awards are based on successful completion of the Turner Fellowship, continued commitment to community service, and academic success at FRA.
