The romantic comedy Our Family Wedding hit theaters on March 12, 2010.  If you’ve never even heard of the movie, don’t worry.  You’re probably not alone.  For some reason, the film did not get a lot of media attention and was not well-advertised, so allow us to now take this time to do a little advertisement of our own and tell you what it’s about.  In Our Family Wedding, Lucia (America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross), two young lovers, return to LA to announce their surprise engagement to their families and their plans to get married right away.  Although the two couldn’t be happier, their families have a hard time adjusting to their shocking revelation.  Not only are there obvious cultural differences between the two families, but Lucia’s father and Marcus’ father also really do not like each other.  Turns out, on the morning before Lucia and Marcus revealed their big news, Lucia’s father, Miguel (Carlos Mencia), had his car towed by Marcus’ father, Brad (Forest Whitaker).  Talk about an interesting moment when the two eventually meet!  Throughout the movie, hilarity ensues as each family tries to adjust to the other, but of course, the traditional romantic comedy dilemma occurs when their families’ fighting puts a strain on Lucia and Marcus’ relationship.  Will Lucia and Marcus ever end up getting married?  Will their families have ruined their happiness forever?  We encourage you to go see the movie to find out.  There really are a lot of funny moments, and although the storyline is a little cliché, it’s safe to say that Lucia and Marcus learn a valuable lesson: when you marry someone, you marry their entire family.
