While our seniors are often recognized for their achievements in academics and sports, they are seldom recognized as actors and actresses. Seniors won many of the FRAnkies this year; Ansel Hollis won not only the Director’s Award but the Outstanding Tech Award as well. Nathan Kahre, along with the rest of the cast of the fall drama, was given the Outstanding Ensemble Award. Walker Boyd shared the Outstanding Male Performance Award (Musical) with freshman Ben Brinton, and Rachel Kerr and Bridgit Bowden received the Outstanding Female Performance Award (Musical) along with junior Rosemary Fossee. The list is impressive, and it shows how far the senior actors and actresses have come in their high school drama careers. Bridgit Bowden, Walker Boyd, and Jackson Taylor have participated in productions all four years of high school, and Ansel Hollis has always helped behind the scenes with technology. Not only do they participate onstage, but the seniors have also played a big role behind the scenes. “Matthew [Hall] and Victoria [Dodd] have been invaluable,” said David Compton, Upper School Drama teacher and play director. “I can always count on Victoria; she’s been Assistant Stage Manager since she was a sophomore. Matthew has started more recently, but he’s really been a big help as well.” Mr. Compton also had one last message to his departing senior actors and actresses. “Thank you! You have all contributed and made drama strong. Whether or not your major is in Theater, don’t lose your passion and appreciation for it. Spread it to new friends, keep it alive.”
