By: Nick Smith, Idine Mousavi, and Robin Dey Nathan Kahre, an astute young trumpet player, is leaving Franklin Road Academy for college this year. Throughout his time at FRA, he has not only been an amazing band member but also a very ambitious and wise student. Also proficient in technology, Nathan constantly helps the tech desk with problems from fellow students. Not only is Nathan very sharp academically, but he also takes a big part in helping out his community and was a Turner Fellow last summer. A well-rounded man, Nathan Kahre honors Franklin Road Academy through his participation in classes, arts, and sports. Here is the interview: Idine: “How do you feel about leaving band?” Nathan Kahre: “It’s sad. I’ve been in band for eight years now, and I have really enjoyed my time there. I’ve had a great experience with all the people in band, and it’s going to be sad leaving this part of my life.” Robin Dey: “How do you feel about Mr. Chandler?” Nathan Kahre: “Dr. C is a great guy and a great teacher who has taught me a lot about how music works and how I can improve my music abilities.” Nick Smith: “Do you feel that the trumpet was the right decision when you had to pick an instrument?” Nathan Kahre: “Yeah, I’ve loved playing the trumpet. It’s been great fun, and I wouldn’t exchange it for anything."
