By: Nicole Bessette Hello, Florida Gators football fans! You’ve waited and waited since January 8 to see Superman, Tim Tebow, back in action, and this Saturday, September 5, the wait finally came to an end. After much speculation as to whether or not the Florida Gators would still be as good as they were after winning the BCS National Championship in January, the team came out and proved to everyone that they are still as good as ever, defeating Charleston Southern University 62-3. Yes, they were lacking their all-star wide receiver, Percy Harvin, but with running backs like Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps and their wide receiver Riley Cooper, the team did not show any signs of a struggle. In fact, Tim Tebow threw for one touchdown pass to Aaron Hernandez and had his forty-fourth rushing touchdown of his career. Brandon James had an eighty-five yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and Chris Rainey had a seventy-six yard run for a touchdown. Moreover, even when Tebow was taken out of the game at the end of the second quarter and backup quarterback John Brantley came in, the Gators still scored three more touchdowns. This complete domination of Charleston Southern University by the Gators did not, of course, come as a surprise to anyone, yet it did prove that Florida still has enough talent to possibly win their third national championship in four years under coach Urban Meyer, culminating in a Florida Gators Dynasty. Just like several other thousands of fans, FRA junior Lee Armstrong says, “Go Gators!”
