Finding Truth in Ugnada

By: Stephany Medina

Adam Young started out by writing and recording his songs in his basement. He calls himself Owl City, and his influences vary from God to G-rated movies. This happy young hearted man came to sing his imaginative lyrics and play his soothing electronic sounds at Rocketown here in Nashville this past Wednesday September 9.
Being an insomniac, Adam writes a good bit of his music during his sleepless nights. Some of these songs include the famous “Fireflies” and “Vanilla Twilight”. As his opening song, Adam sang “Cave In” from his newest album Ocean Eyes and ended with his popular song “Fireflies.” His performance also included songs from his previous album called Maybe I’m Dreaming, such as “The Technicolor Phase” and “Hello Seattle.” Along with Adam’s performance, Unicorn Kid played a few his original electro pop songs that included the song “All I Want,” and Kate Havnevik also sang some of her peaceful alternative/pop songs such as “Show Me Love.”
Over all, the concert was a success. Adam’s popularity in Nashville sold out his concert, and everyone enjoyed his performance. For those of you who weren’t able to see him perform this year, I would definitely recommend going to his next concert.
