Finding Truth in Ugnada

Each team’s goal during the offseason is to develop a stronger roster and coaching staff. The Memphis Grizzlies have done just the right things to make this happen. Adding Zach Randolph to the roster was a good thing and bad thing sort of deal.
The Grizzlies definitely have to be chary with Zach Randolph because, in the past, he has had problems with the organizations, and he has been known for being out of shape.
However, last season, according to the Memphis Grizzlies website the team had 45.4% field goal percentage compared to their opponents who had a 47.3% field goal percentage. They also only scored 93.9 points at home which was 29th out of 30 teams in the league.  Zach Randolph averaged twenty-one points per game and ten rebounds so he will undoubtedly improve the Grizzlies. Two players on their roster, OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay, scored over one thousand points last year and Randolph is already predicted to score over one thousand.
Another negative aspect is that Randolph doesn’t play defense at all, but the Grizzlies were arguably the best team at the draft. They drafted and signed three defensive minded players, Hasheem Thabeet, DeMarre Carroll, and Sam Young. The Grizzlies need that post presence in Thabeet, who is 7’3”, after losing Darko Milicic to the free agency. Marc Gasol is improving like his brother, Pau Gasol who just won a NBA championship.
Finally, they signed Damon Stoudemire who used to play as a point guard for the Grizzlies and was very successful as an assistant coach. He will help point guard Mike Conley become a passing threat and also improve his jump shot. Ryan Gentle, a senior at FRA who plays basketball and keeps up with the NBA said,” The Grizzlies could easily move into the second or third spot in the Southwest division with the Houston Rockets losing Yao Ming for the season.”
However, many good players are moving from the Eastern Conference to the Western Conference such as: Andre Miller to the Portland Trailblazers and Shawn Marion to the Dallas Mavericks.  This makes it uncertain where Allen Iverson may go, and Memphis has offered him a deal. Memphis could see more fans in their arena if Iverson does come to the Grizzlies.
