Finding Truth in Ugnada

Crocs- First introduced in 2004, Crocs were a major fad that first surrounded the boating and swimming worlds.  Made of a flexible plastic full of holes, they provided a functional substitute to the flip-flop. While they are comfortable and practical, there are large numbers of people who objected to the crocs and went as far as to make blog spots in objection to them.
Hoop earrings- Popular in the 1990’s hoop earrings continued their phase of popularity into the early 2000’s. All sizes of hoops graced the ears of women everywhere.
Baseball caps- Similarly to the 1990’s, baseball caps were popular in the 2000’s as well; however, the manner in which they were worn changed drastically.  Worn backwards in the 90’s, baseball caps were now worn sideways.
Giant sunglasses- Brought to light by Nicole Richie, oversized sunglasses were the “hot” item in 2007, and were essential to any outfit, even if it was dark outside.
Wide bottom jeans- Channeling the 1970’s, bell-bottom jeans made a comeback in the early 2000’s. They were made in ever color and denim. 
Argyle-  in 2007 the nation went argyle crazy.  Sweater vests in every color of argyle were a necessity.  If you knew about fashion, you had an argyle sweater vest.
Miniskirts- Miniskirts and dresses were a fashion faux pas that were popular despite the questionable message they sent.  These tiny skirts and dresses were favorites of celebrities.
Skinny jeans- A return from the 1980’s skinny jeans were as tight as could be in 2006.  For the first time even guys were wearing tight pants. Skinny jeans persuaded people to buy them by making people believe wearing them would make you look skinny, think again.
Leggings- Leggings were a major fad in 2007. Beginning with the basic colors, leggings now range from denim and leather, to chrome and lace.
Uggs- these clunky ski boots dominate tween fashion for several years, beginning in 2006. While your feet did stay warm, the obtrusiveness of these chunky boots was agreed by most to be obtrusive.
Ballet flats- in 2005 ballet flats became a staple in any woman’s wardrobe.  Simple flats, could accompany any outfit without making a statement.
Track suits- in 2007 velour and velvet track suits made their comeback.  In every color, people considered them appropriate “going out” wear, where as sweatpants were not.
Hip-hop- As the genre of rap music grew, the fashions that accompanied it did too.  Baggy pants, grills, and bling, were seen on males everywhere, as well as celebrities.
Emo- the grunge look was style that has continued to sweep the nation.  The overly tight jeans, fringe, black hair, and screen printed t-shirts invaded high-schools everywhere.
Geek chic was a style that emerged in 2007.  It promoted the classic glasses look and grandparent sweater, that was made fun of just years before.
