Planned Giving & Endowment

What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?

Building a lasting legacy is about much more than assets. It's about your unique values and the kind of mark you want to leave on the world. At Franklin Road Academy, we realize that you have three primary concerns as you embark on the planning process:

Planned Giving

In consideration of the above concerns, FRA is offering a values-based charitable estate planning process, available free of charge, to all of our families and friends. FRA has contracted Thompson & Associates, the leading provider of values-based estate planning services, to assist you.

Whether you are just starting, have an existing will or charitable trust, or even a fully-executed estate plan, you will benefit from this service. We fully respect your privacy; therefore, this is a completely anonymous process, and you are under no obligation to give to FRA.

"I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to go through the FRA Planned Giving process with Thompson & Associates. The process was very easy, convenient and thorough. As a result of the review, I am in the process of making several changes in my Estate Plan that will reduce my tax liability, therefore allowing more dollars to be passed to my designated beneficiaries." — Joe Bowen, Board of Trustees

How does the FRA Planned Giving process work?

The process takes place through approximately 3-6 private meetings with an individual charitable estate planner/attorney. At the end, you leave with a clear plan including dollar amounts that will go to your three L's: Life after work (retirement), Loved ones (heirs) and Legacy (charities), and an estimated tax liability which is typically much lower than it would have been without charitable estate planning.

Endowment

Another excellent opportunity to leave a lasting legacy to FRA is through an endowment. An endowment is similar to a trust fund where the principal always remains intact and cannot be touched. Only the interest and earnings from the endowment principle may be used. Endowment earnings are typically earmarked to fund scholarships, salaries, development, technology and other priorities as the need arises, making an endowment vital to the strategic goals of any academic institution.

I found that the experience was very informative and helpful to my personal planning, as well as explaining options for the future. The attorney was well versed in financial planning and very helpful in explaining the possibilities in future giving. It is an experience that I would recommend for our patrons at FRA as it allows you to realize opportunities that are available. — Hale Harris, Headmaster 1987-1995, Trustee 1996-2001
