The upper school will offer new classes for semester credit and a variety of enrichment opportunities as part of FRA Summer Camps. These classes and programs focus on experiential learning, which means the students and faculty will engage in hands-on learning outside of the classroom. The work in these offerings is designed to be challenging, creative, innovative, and active. The class sizes are small, offering students personal attention to enhance their learning.

Maximum Number of Absences

Attendance is essential. The maximum number of absences permitted is two – students missing more than two classes will not receive credit. Refunds will be available in cases where excessive absences are due to illness.

Driver’s Education
This course is designed to help students obtain their driving permit or license. The students will spend 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours behind-the-wheel learning about all the various laws and proper safety rules for the road. The behind-the-wheel training is completed in three 2-hour sessions during the school day, so that the students have completed all the requirements by the end of the week.

College Essay Writing
Rising seniors, do you want to get a head start and work on your essays for your college applications this summer? During this seminar, we will look at examples of essays, and write and edit several college essays (from the questions on the Common Application) that you will have ready before the fall semester even begins. The class will review the components of an outstanding essay – especially the unique strengths and talents you would bring to various schools. Finally, we will peruse college websites and examine their cultures to gain further insight for your work. A college admissions representative will also visit to share thoughts on the entire admissions process and the role the college essay plays in that process.

ACT Prep
Franklin Road Academy upper school is offering a class hosted by Dr. John Murray on ACT Prep from June 4- June 7. This program will run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Crockett Library, Monday through Thursday. This class is designed to help students get prepared for the ACT given on June 9. Each night is devoted to one of the sections on the ACT and gives students practice on the types of questions as well as learning good test-taking strategies.
