Uniform Guidelines

At Franklin Road Academy, maintaining a focused and respectful learning environment is a top priority. Our dress code plays an important role in supporting this goal by promoting a culture that reflects our educational values and commitment to academic excellence. We appreciate our parents’ partnership in reinforcing these standards at home, helping students understand the importance of appropriate attire. School leaders are always available to offer guidance and clarification. To preserve the integrity of our learning environment, final decisions regarding dress and appearance rest with the school.

DAILY UNIFORM FOR LOWER SCHOOL

BOYS & GIRLS: Polo Shirts
Flynn O’Hara has FRA polo shirts, both long and short-sleeved, in navy, white, or light blue with the FRA monogram. Shirts come in either unisex or girls’ cut. Flynn O’Hara performance fabric polos are also allowed.

BOYS & GIRLS: Khaki Pants or Shorts
Khaki pants and shorts may be purchased from the retailer of your choice, but must closely match the color and style of Flynn O’Hara’s khaki offerings. Flynn O’Hara offers traditional khaki pants and shorts in the following styles:
• Elastic-waist pants and shorts
• Twill walking shorts and khaki pants
• Khaki performance fabric pants and shorts

Girls: Jumpers, Dresses, Skorts
Flynn O’Hara offers the following styles for girls:
• Skort: Flynn O’Hara plaid 2-pleat uniform skort.
• Jersey-Knit Dress: Flynn O’Hara navy jersey-knit dress, long or short sleeve.
• Jumper (PK3-2nd only): Flynn O’Hara plaid drop-waist jumper with white Peter Pan-collar blouse or turtleneck.
• Note: Navy spandex shorts from Flynn O’Hara, or black/navy spandex shorts from another retailer, are required to be worn under a skort, jumper, or jersey-knit drop-waist dress.

Girls in LS may not wear makeup. See General Dress Code Guidelines regarding socks, tights, shoes, and outerwear.

BOYS & GIRLS: Polo Shirts

BOYS: Khaki Pants/Shorts
MS boys may wear khaki pants or shorts. US boys must wear khaki pants (no shorts). Khaki pants and shorts may be purchased from the retailer of your choice but must closely match the color and style of Flynn O’Hara’s khaki offerings. Flynn O’Hara offers traditional khaki pants and shorts in the following styles:
• Twill pants or shorts
• Performance fabric pants or shorts
• Men’s classic pants

GIRLS: Skirts or Khaki Pants
Skirts: Flynn O’Hara offers three skirts for Grades 5-12 and one skort for Grades 5-6. Skirts are provided in these styles:
• Box-pleat skirt
• Contour-waist skirt
• Knife-pleat skirt
• Note: Navy spandex shorts from Flynn O’Hara, or black/navy spandex shorts from another retailer, are required to be worn under a skort, jumper, or jersey-knit drop-waist dress.

Pants: Khaki pants may be purchased from the retailer of your choice but must closely match the color and style of Flynn O’Hara’s girls’ flat front slacks.

DRESS UNIFORM FOR MIDDLE & UPPER SCHOOL

BOYS Dress Uniform
• Flynn O’Hara long-sleeve Oxford cloth shirt
• Official uniform tie from Flynn O’Hara or the FRA Campus Store
• Khaki pants (same as daily uniform).

GIRLS Dress Uniform
• Flynn O’Hara long-sleeve Oxford cloth shirt or blouse
• Flynn O’Hara skirts or flat front slacks (same as daily uniform)
