Athletics Hall of Fame

The Franklin Road Academy Athletics Hall of Fame was created in 2021 to show appreciation to those individuals or teams who have made significant contributions to FRA athletics. Those chosen for induction into the FRA Athletics Hall of Fame have influenced our community through their ability, dedication, and service to our athletic program while at FRA and following graduation.

ABOUT THE AWARD

Anyone may nominate for the Athletics Hall of Fame. All nominations go before the executive committee prior to going before the full nominating committee. After the executive committee has fully vetted all nominees, the full nominating committee will vote on who moves forward for final voting on induction. An athlete or contributor must be nominated each year in order to be considered.

Nomination Criteria for Alumni or Teams

The following criteria will be considered when selecting alumni or teams to be honored in the Hall of Fame:

Eligibility for admission to the FRA Athletics Hall of Fame begins the tenth year after the nominee graduates from FRA, the nominated team played its last contest, or the fifth year after nominated coach retires from coaching.
Nominees will have made a significant contribution to one or more of FRA's athletic programs.
The nominee should have demonstrated a sustained interest in FRA and FRA athletics between graduation and nomination.
Nominees will have demonstrated integrity in high school or will have a demonstrated track record of significant and positive contributions to society since graduation, or both.
Nominees will exhibit excellence in personal and/or professional life after FRA graduation.
A student/athlete nominee must have been a letter winner whose accomplishments represent the highest caliber of achievement of his/her time.
Selection will be based primarily on athletic accomplishments while at FRA. Some consideration may be given to subsequent achievements in athletics and other areas if those achievements have a foundation in the nominee's career at FRA.
An entire team may be nominated when that team's accomplishments represent the highest caliber of achievement for that team's era.
Coaches, other school and community members, and athletes with extraordinary cases may be admitted to membership in the FRA Athletics Hall of Fame. Extraordinary cases should be interpreted to include premature termination of an athletic career due to an injury or a unique situation where the athlete's post-graduation accomplishments bring great credit to FRA.
Posthumous candidates are considered on an equal basis with living candidates.

Nomination Criteria for Friends of FRA Athletics

The following criteria will be considered when selecting friends of FRA athletics to be honored in the Hall of Fame:

Nominees may include but are not limited to coaches and friends of the program who are no longer associated with FRA athletics.
Nominees must have made a significant contribution to FRA athletics.
Nominees must be exemplary role models for the students of Franklin Road Academy.
Nominees must exhibit excellence in personal and professional life after their time at FRA.
Nominees may no longer be employed at FRA.

SELECTION PROCESS

Entry into the FRA Athletics Hall of Fame will be based on a simple majority of committee members present at the annual selection meeting. Individuals selected as inductees will be notified by the executive committee of acceptance into the FRA Athletics Hall of Fame prior to the public announcement. Only the names of inductees will be shared with the public; names of nominees will not be announced.

RECOGNITION

Honorees will be given a commemorative gift and a duplicate of a plaque that will hang in the lobby of the athletic center above the gymnasium for one year. Inductees will be honored at a luncheon during Homecoming Weekend and recognized during halftime of the homecoming football game and must attend in order to be inducted.
