FRA’s theatre program offers students meaningful experiences that cultivate artistic passion and creativity. Students learn that theatre is not only about performance, but also about the creative process, exploring, shaping, and bringing stories to life.
Across all three divisions, students engage with theatre in a variety of ways, developing skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability while learning to express themselves with confidence and purpose.

Lower School
Theatre is woven into daily life in the Lower School, providing students with regular opportunities for creative expression. In Performing Arts classes, students explore character development, perspective-taking, and storytelling, applying these skills in both classroom activities and stage performances.
Theatre also plays an important role in many public performances throughout the year, giving students the chance to build confidence and share their creativity with the broader community.

Middle School
Our Middle School theatre program offers an immersive introduction to the art of theatre. Through ensemble-based work, students collaborate to build confidence and creativity while developing original pieces, engaging in scene study, and exploring improvisation.
The program nurtures a love for the performing arts while fostering a supportive, inclusive community where students feel encouraged to take creative risks and grow as performers.

Upper School
In the Upper School, students explore their creative potential by engaging their natural curiosity and imagination. Through a process-oriented approach in the studio classroom, students learn to transform self-discovery into meaningful dramatic expression.
The curriculum begins with foundational theatre studies and progresses to focused training in improvisation, acting, and directing. Beyond the classroom, students participate in a dynamic production program that includes classics, full-scale musicals, and student-written works. With typically three productions each year, students take on a wide range of roles, from acting and directing to stage management, set design, lighting and sound, costumes, and makeup.
Through these experiences, students receive high-quality training that builds technical skill, confidence, and creativity, preparing them for success both on stage and beyond.
