Beginning in lower school, students explore a wide range of artistic styles, artists, and techniques, building their skills and discovering their creative passions. During middle school, students continue to increase their understanding of how art is connected to other cultures and eras. In addition to traditional media, middle school students dive into more complex media such as ceramics, printmaking, and digital art. In the Upper School, Students have more choices to select from, such as Digital Art, Ceramics, and Drawing/Painting courses. In ceramics, students can explore hand-building, wheel-throwing, and sculptural and architectural construction in ceramics. An AP 3-Dimensional course is offered for those who have a passion for constructing with 3-D materials. In the two-dimensional realm, students enter Drawing 1, a class that is foundational to mastering drawing skills, and advanced courses in Art Color Theory, 20th-Century Painting Styles, and AP Drawing. Their work is proudly displayed in our on-campus Ambrose Gallery, as well as in exhibitions like the Spring Art Show, showcasing both growth and talent honed since middle school.
