Three Athletes Sign Letters of Intent to Play at Collegiate Level

Congratulations to Alexander Gales, Josh Holtschlag, and Samantha Shafer, who signed letters of intent to play at the collegiate level on Wednesday. Gales will pole vault at High Point University; Holtschlag has signed to play golf at Bucknell University; and Shafer will continue her volleyball career at the University of North Alabama.

FRA Stuns Notre Dame to Advance to the TSSAA Division II-AA State Semifinals

Dramatic. Unbelievable. Resilient. Heroic.

When the Panther football players strapped on their gear Friday night, they knew what was ahead of them – a battle, against the tough number one seed from the east Notre Dame team (10-1), away from home, for the opportunity to advance to the TSSAA Division II-A State Semifinals for the first time since 2001.  They couldn’t have imagined, though, the way it would all play out. A slow start. An uphill climb. A comeback win. It was all of those things as the Panthers defeated the Fighting Irish 34-33 in a game that won’t soon be forgotten.

Panthers Advance to State Quarterfinals with Victory Over Grace Christian

The varsity football team defeated Grace Christian 39-6 on Friday to advance to the TSSAA Division II-A State Quarterfinal game. The Panthers, who are now 7-4 on the season, used a 27-point first quarter and never looked back against the Rams from Knoxville. 

Senior Brogan Wilson continued his great season, leading the Panthers with 166 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 19 attempts, and junior quarterback Sean Casey threw for 85 yards and a touchdown. Casey also added a 64-yard rushing touchdown, and freshman Jeffrey Vercher added 107 rushing yards and a touchdown for FRA. Senior Lance Wilhoite also had a touchdown reception and was the leading receiver with 64 yards on 6 receptions. 

The Panthers will travel to Chattanooga to play Notre Dame on Friday. Kick off is set for 6 p.m. CDT.

Panthers Defeat Hickman County on Senior Night

The varsity football team defeated Hickman County High School 42-7 on the last home game of the regular season. The Panthers, who are now 6-3, had 487 total yards and forced five turnovers to secure a senior night victory. 

Senior Brogan Wilson led the way, accounting for three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown, and junior quarterback Sean Casey was 13 for 19 for 206 yards and two interceptions for the Panthers. Seniors Jack Artsa and Riley Speed each scored a touchdown, and senior Lance Wilhoite finished with 77 reception yards on seven catches. On the defensive side, senior Tymon Mitchell led the charge with three tackles, nine assists, and a tackle for loss, and junior Jacob Jackson added three tackles, 11 assists, and a fumble recovery.
