Head Coach- Girls, Assistant Coach Boys
Megan Scheumann is in her fifth year of teaching and coaching at Franklin Road Academy. Her main role is serving as the Lower School Spanish teacher. She was a part of the Lower School cross country coaching staff for a year, before moving to the middle cross country team. She also assists with the 7th and 8th grade track team, focusing on working with the distance athletes.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with minors in Spanish and Physical Education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI in 2007. Scheumann was a member of the swim team for a year, competing in breaststroke and freestyle events.
After graduating from Calvin, Scheumann moved to Tegucigalpa, Honduras where she served and lived for 7 years. She taught 3rd grade at International School Tegucigalpa for two years before joining the Micah Project, a non-profit that serves high-risk teenage boys in the capital city. During her time with Micah Project she taught English classes, served as a care-giver, and enjoyed working on her soccer skills with the boys at the project.
This year she completed her first Ironman 70.3 triathlon, as well as several sprint triathlons, and has 2 on the schedule for next season! She keeps up with her own running and training by participating in running groups throughout the city and has recently gotten into more trail running. She looks forward to the spring track season and watching our student athletes learn and grow.
Head Coach- Boys, Assistant Coach Girls
Coach Will McCauley is in his third year coaching MS Cross Country, Swimming, and MS Track at FRA.
After 10 years of club swimming in Buffalo, New York, Coach McCauley attended Wheaton College in Chicago, where he swam for four years. Between swim seasons at Wheaton, he became involved in community coaching, and has continued his development over the past three years at FRA.
Coach McCauley is a Christian, and he considers athletics an opportunity to worship the Lord. He loves seeing athletes improve, meet their goals, and work as a team, even in “individual” sports.
Macie Grissom grew up outside of Salt Lake City, Utah and participated in sports in her free time and at school. Macie grew up mountain biking, hiking, and alpine and cross country skiing on Utah’s mountains. In middle and high school, Macie was a cheerleader, ran and jumped on the track and field teams, and played tennis during her Junior year. In 2016, Macie moved across the country to Massachusetts to attend college at Mount Holyoke College. At MHC, Macie double majored in Biology and Education and spent her time engaging with the local community, tutoring and student teaching. Macie received her teaching license in the state of Massachusetts and graduated in May 2020. Eager to experience a new part of the country, Macie made the move to Nashville to work at FRA. At Franklin Road Academy, Macie assists in coaching cross country, basketball cheer and track and field. Macie is a faculty fellow in the Upper School and teaches Biology.
Ralston is excited to coach this middle school cross country and track runners this year. Ralston attended Washington & Lee University where he studied Religion and Education. He is currently a Faculty Fellow in the Upper School history department. Throughout his college career he competed in races ranging from 10k's to 50-milers, but mostly fell in love with running. He hopes to cultivate this in our runners this year!
