The FRA Boys Cross Country team is headed to the TSSAA State Championship after finishing as Regional Runnerup during the final meet of the regular season.
The varsity football team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 42-32 win over division opponent Donelson Christian Academy on Friday. The Panthers dominated the rushing game with sophomore Jeffery Vercher scoring five touchdowns on 161 yards in 23 rushing attempts. Senior quarterback Sean Casey finished with 124 yards on eight of 12 passing, and Jackson Cummiskey led the team in receptions with three for 74 yards.
On defense, senior Jacob Jackson led the way with nine tackles and two assists.
The Panthers look to continue their winning ways as they host RePublic for their Homecoming game Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Davidson College recently named its home dugout in honor of the late George Weicker, who was a beloved teacher and coach at FRA for more than 30 years.
Franklin Road Academy’s highly-touted seniors Tymon Mitchell and Lance Wilhoite have officially signed their letters of intent to play football in college. Mitchell has committed to the University of Georgia, and Wilhoite will play at the University of Oregon.
