Athletics Roundup: Oct. 3-9, 2022

Six different teams were in action last week as the fall sports season is beginning to wrap up.

Boys Golf

Eighth-grader Walker Webb competed in the TSSAA DII Class A State Championship Tournament held in Sevierville, TN, last Monday and Tuesday. To open the tournament, he shot 77 and stood tied for sixth place at 5-over, three strokes behind the leader. On the second and final day, he carded a 76 for an overall score of 153 to finish 10th.

Varsity Girls Soccer

The varsity girl's soccer team celebrated five seniors on senior night on Monday night. The girls fought hard but fell to the University School of Nashville in penalty kicks 3-2 to end the regular season. Later on Saturday, Sammy Zepeda scored two goals to lead the Panthers to a 2-0 win over Webb School of Bell Buckle to advance in the TSSAA Middle Region Tournament. They will face Goodpasture Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the region quarterfinals.


The bowling team competed in their second competition of the season against Ensworth on Thursday afternoon at Tusculum Strike and Spare. The Panthers fought hard and earned a massive 13-10 comeback win over the Tigers. 

The bowling team will be back in action on Oct. 19 as they face Clarksville Academy at Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center at 3:30 p.m.

Middle School Boys Soccer

The 5th/6th and 7th/8th-grade boys soccer competed in their home openers on Wednesday. Elias Greer scored a goal in a 5-1 loss to Grace Christian in the 5th/6th boy's game. Later, the 7th/8th-grade boy's team fell to Grace Christian 2-0. 

The 7th/8th-grade boys will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 11, to face Battle Ground Academy at home at 3:45 p.m.

Varsity Football

The varsity football team took care of business on Thursday night and downed Stratford 55-18 to move to 7-1 on the season. Ty Clark led the Panthers with 136 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns, all in the first quarter, to put the game away early.  

The Panthers will take a one-week break before hosting district opponent Battle Ground Academy on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:00 p.m.
