Franklin Road Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brodrick Thomas as its newest senior leadership team member and next director of diversity, community, and inclusion. Dr. Thomas is currently serving as the director of community engagement and reconciliation at Trevecca Nazarene University and will be joining the FRA community in July.
“I look forward to Dr. Thomas joining our community and sharing his talents as a member of the senior leadership team,” Head of School Sean Casey said. “He is a thoughtful leader who will be instrumental in our efforts to build and nurture a diverse educational environment where individuals show compassion and mutual respect for one another, demonstrating Christ's message of love and inclusion. I am excited for the impact he will have across our campus."
As the director of community engagement and reconciliation at Trevecca, Dr. Thomas developed and implemented support programs to enhance cultural awareness and education and unified diversity efforts across campus. As part of his role, he led the faculty and staff diversity committee and established student support groups. He is also a founding member of the Justice Circle Organization and a board member for the 510 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports local ministries in Nashville and mission work around the world.
When asked about his leadership at Trevecca, a colleague commented, "Dr. Thomas is thoughtful, articulate, and organized, but what truly separates him is his ability to pull people from different backgrounds into productive conversations." A member of Trevecca's leadership team commented, "Dr. Thomas understands that relationships are at the heart of his work, and he connects everything he does to Christ's message of love." Another shared, "Dr. Thomas’s genuine nature and authenticity are obvious in all that he does. It's remarkable how comfortable he makes everyone feel, all while engaging them in challenging conversations."
Before moving to Nashville in 2011, Dr. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Auburn University, where he was a member of the 2010 National Championship football team. He also has an MBA, a master's degree in organizational leadership, and an Ed.D in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
"I believe that our greatest fulfillment lies in giving ourselves to others," Dr. Thomas said. "And I believe that is what is lived out in the FRA community every day. I want to be a part of that story."
