CHAPEL

Lorem Ipsum Dolor

Chapel is an intentional time set aside to reflect, grow, and engage with our inclusive Christian mission. Held by division, chapel invites students and faculty to pause, connect, and center their hearts on Christ.

In the lower school, chapel takes place every Wednesday and includes worship, prayers, and a Christ-centered message from a faculty member or lower school class. Throughout the year, every 1st through 4th grade class leads a chapel service by designing, practicing, and presenting their message to the lower school. This gives students a meaningful opportunity to take ownership of their faith and practice sharing it with others.

In the middle and upper schools, chapel is held on Wednesdays. It typically includes a welcome and prayer from a student leader, worship led by faculty or student worship teams, and a message shared by a student chaplain or faculty member, often based on our theme for the year.

Our current theme is “The Real Thing,” based on the senior theme verse from Romans 12:9-10: “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

This verse offers a beautiful picture of what real, authentic love looks like. Over the course of the year, we will explore the different ways that the Christian life offers us “The Real Thing”—real love, real community, real courage, real perspective, real faith, and real purpose.

Throughout the year, we also have several special chapels that bring our community together:

  • Lessons and Carols Chapel (3rd-12th grades) celebrates the Christmas story through nine scripture readings and songs that point to the anticipation, joy, and significance of Jesus’s birth. Students participate through readings and performances by our band, choirs, and worship team.
  • Spiritual Emphasis Week includes two all-school chapels that bookend one of the most impactful weeks on campus, inviting our entire community to reflect and grow together.
  • Easter Chapel (5th -12th grades) focuses on the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection and its relevance for our lives today.
  • 8th Grade Commissioning Chapel and Senior Chapel mark the culmination of our advisory experience, as faculty advisors share words of encouragement and reflection with their students.

Chapel at FRA is a cornerstone of spiritual life—a shared experience that centers our community, and invites students into a deeper understanding of faith and purpose.
