Enrichment Camps
FRA offers a variety of camps to enrich the mind and spirit are offered for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students. FRA's enrichment camps are facilitated by faculty and professionals who encourage creativity, thought, play, and fun!
Half- and full-day offerings include art, music, and STEM-related camps including video game design, musical theatre, cooking courses, robotics, Panther Day Camp and much more!

WEEK ONE — June 5 - 9

ASPIRING AUTHORS CAMP

Aspiring Authors is a camp for students with a passion for writing and desire to take their skills to the next level. FRA's Jenna Lamm will take campers through the writing process with a poem, short story, and memoir and “Publish” their work their very own portfolio.

Bloxels: Build Your Own Video Game
GRADES: 2 - 4

Have you ever wanted to design and play your own video game? In Bloxels with Ms. Keener, campers will design their own video game land, characters and stories using the popular education app, BLOXELS. Campers will have creative opportunities everyday while navigating this new and relevant software. We can't wait to see their video game creations!
Improv Theater

Fun, creativity, and confidence is what this camp is all about! Campers will learn about improvisation, character work, and general theatre knowledge through playing a variety of games and activities. Individuality, uniqueness, and quirkiness are all not only welcomed, but celebrated in wonderful world of theatre, so come one, come all! There is no performance for this zero-pressure camp, and the activities are tailored to include all levels of acting experience, from the outgoing, seasoned performer, to the shy newbie! Princess Camp

The FRA Princess Day Camp offers little girls the chance to dress up, sing, and learn all about their favortive princesses. Campers will enjoy lessons in ballet, and creative movement, learn choreography each day and create princess arts and crafts.

Let’s take computer science and computational thinking off the screen to code and build with VEX Go robotics system. VEX Go streamlines into the VEX IQ and VRC systems used by our competitive middle and upper school robotics teams. In this enrichment you will get to build your own robot and then code it to perform different tasks. Each day you will be tasked with a different challenge to accomplish. At the end of the week we will put our skills to the test in the arena!

Get your creative juices flowing. Cut, bend, saw and create with cardboard all week long! In addition to guided creations, students will also work on their own personal projects like a small house, sword, shield, clock, marble run, helmet, labyrinth, an arcade game or whatever their minds can imagine. You’ll plan, design and create whatever you want. We will be using cardboard saws and low-temp hot glue guns during this camp.
Halloween Town

Ever wish that Halloween happened more than once a year? Then come this June to Halloween town! In Halloween town, every day is Halloween! We do creepy crafts, create scary snacks, and wear our Halloween costumes every day. Have your child visit Halloween town as their vacation this summer.
Musical Theater

Sing and dance your way through the week as we learn music and choreography in preparation for an end-of-the-week performance! This year’s theme is Disney musicals, and the show is sure to include some of your favorites, from both classic and recent Disney hits. Each camper will have a chance to shine in whichever way they feel most comfortable, whether that’s singing solo or with a group. This afternoon camp will be more of a “rehearsal” setting, and all levels of experience are encouraged to join.

Children learn how to safely use a sewing machine to create projects from patterns. This enrichment camp takes students through the basics of sewing and clothesmaking and how to follow a pattern. You will child will have an opportunity to create bags, blankets, headbands/scrunchies, everyday clothing, and more! It is open to boys and girls! This is one camp you wouldn't want your child to miss.

FASHION DESIGN

Calling all fashionistas! In this camp, students will join Mrs. Marsh in the innovation lab to learn about the history of fashion and the influence of culture, weather, and traditions on clothing. Students learn to develop their unique creative voice while reflecting on their interests, needs and wants within the elements of fashion design. In this fun session that is all about re-purposing and responsible fashion, campers will learn how to turn around textile waste into stylish accessories. They will use fabrics like used denim, unwanted t-shirts, old belts, and swatches from design houses to design and create one-of-a-kind bags, scarves, belts, hair accessories, and more.

Panther Day Camp offers campers a wide range of recreation activities and learning opportunities in the arts, athletics, academics and enrichment! Etiquette Camp

Join FRA's Ms. Orr this Summer to learn all about etiquette! At etiquette camp, you’ll spend time reflecting on how you interact with the people and world around you. In this course, we’ll cover etiquette for social situations, school, friendships and more. We’ll explore ideas around good work habits, manners, social eating and events, how to make others feel at ease, time management and more!
Kindergarten ABC's and 123s

This camp is designed for students who will be entering FRA kindergarten in the fall of 2023. This half-day camp will focus on the academic foundational skills that have been identified as indicators of success in kindergarten. These skills will be taught through a combination of the whole group, small group, centers, and structured play. Students will focus on concepts of print, alphabet concepts, name writing, one-to-one correspondence, and more. Please join the group for this fun learning opportunity. This camp is limited to 15 participants per session and is intended for students who need the supplementary practice of these foundational skills.

Minecraft is the most popular video game of all time, but it’s also a vehicle for kids to express their creativity, collaborate with others, and build something from their imagination. The camp is open to 1st through 4th graders, and would be a great start for anyone interested in cheerleading.

Take Flight Reading Intervention, Jumpstart to Book 1

This Take Flight Jumpstart camp is for students who would benefit from additional reading support in grades 1-4. This one week intensive focuses on introducing students to a research based multi-sensory reading program. During this time, students will learn important procedures for the program, introduction to alphabet, discovery learning, letter naming/writing, phonemic awareness, sound identification and spelling practice. This camp is a great introduction to the Take Flight Program and can be continued with our language therapists in the fall semester.

Kitchen Chemistry Camp

If you love getting messy and making things explode, this is the camp for you! Join me for a week of fun experiments and activities using everyday household items. We’ll make everything from bath bombs to fizzy eggs to exploding paint canisters and more!
Lego Stop Motion Camp

There is no better duo than LEGO and stop motion animation! Come join us, in this camp, which teaches some of his best LEGO animating tricks. Learn all about his creative process, how to dunk a basketball, golf a hole in one, make your mini figures talk, and so much more! Ever think about visiting a galaxy far, far away? Then take a trip among the stars and visit the Star Wars camp. In this camp, we will create our own droids, decide our lightsaber colors, and in the end discover if the light or the dark side wins. Have your child visit Star Wars camp as their vacation this summer.
Jedi and Princesses Camp

Calling all Star Wars Jedi and Fairytale Princesses! Come join us for a fun-filled day of challenges, games, and Star Wars & Princess themed art and science. This is a great option for non–FRA families in need of a full day camp option during FRA’s Jumpstart Week and for FRA families who need an option for their kiddos after their Jumpstart sessions.
LOWER SCHOOL THEATER
GRADES: 1 - 4
Students will practice songs and dances in preparation for a final performance. Students will learn good vocal technique, stage presence, dance combinations, speaking expressively, and using a microphone.
